About the Project

North Kansas City continues our walking and biking enhancements by planning for a shared use path along Interstate 29 to connect the Rabbit hOle on 14th Avenue and the cycle track on Diamond Parkway. The shared use path will contribute to the safe and multimodal transportation network that reflects community priorities for increasing connectivity, accommodating all ages and abilities, connecting to regional destinations, enhancing character and activity on public streets, and improving safety for all roadway users.

This project was a priority in our 2020 Bike Plan and will create a connection between new development in One North and businesses and attractions to the south. One recommendation from the plan is to connect the existing Diamond Parkway cycle track, completed in 2018, to the Rabbit hOle on 14th Avenue to provide a safe off-street shared use path connection under Interstate 29/35. Shared Use Paths (SUPs) are wide, multi-use trails for bicyclists and pedestrians to safely travel separate from vehicle traffic.

The City and project engineers are reviewing the feasibility of route options for the new path, which is approximately 1/3rd of a mile from Diamond Parkway to the new museum on 14th Avenue.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts about this project!
