 Minor Home Repair Modification Program

North Kansas City partnered with Northland Neighborhoods, Inc. and Rebuilding Together Kansas City to develop a new NKC Minor Home Repair and Home Modification Program support low- to moderate-income homeowners with needed home repairs. This new program assists homeowners who do not have the financial means to respond to code violations and/or modify their homes to accommodate their mobility and access needs. Safety repairs and modifications can include:
• Modifications to bathrooms and showers
• Replacing or repairing steps, stair railings, and walkways
• Minor home repairs, including electrical and plumbing repairs
• HVAC repair/replacements
• Exterior home repairs

Clay County Senior Service Handyman Grant

This is a program through Northland Neighborhoods Inc. (NNI) which seniors may receive up to $1,000 in grant money per household per year. The grant requires client co-pay in which the client must pay 50% of costs. This grant is funded by Clay County. For more information contact Cheryl Ray at:

Rebuilding Together Kansas City

All repairs in this program are done free of charge to the homeowner. Applicants must own and live in their own home. The home must be insured in the applicant’s policy. Applicants must meet Rebuilding Together’s income guidelines. Priority for these projects is given to elderly and disabled homeowners. For more information contact:

Shepherds Center of the Northland

The Shepherds Center has a multitude of services directed at improving the quality of life of older adults in the Northland. They primarily serve the residents of Gladstone, North Kansas City and southern Clay County. The Handyman service they offer provides volunteers to complete minor home repairs. The only fee for the homeowner is the cost of materials. For more information contact:
