One in eight people in the great Kansas City region faces food insecurity meaning that many of our neighbors may be unsure of where their next meal will come from or whether or not they have enough food to feed their families. Many of whom are not eligible for federal assistance through programs such as SNAP or WIC.

In April of this year, the North Kansas City YMCA opened a community pantry to serve North Kansas City and the larger Northland community in an effort to address food insecurity in our community. This pantry is open to anyone in the community in need of food. The pantry offers fresh fruits and vegetables, non-perishable items, and a variety of other items such as grains, pastas, beans, healthy drinks, and healthy snacks. In addition to food items, the North Kansas City Y has partnered with Natural Grocers to offer hygiene products such as shampoo and deodorant.

The pantry is open the following times:

  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday- 5-7 p.m.
  • Tuesday/Thursday- 8-9 a.m.
  • Saturday- 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

For more information, please call the North Kansas City YMCA at 816-300-0531.
