Each spring the City of North Kansas City extends the opportunity for businesses to apply for a grant through the Streetscape Beautification Program. This is a program created to help beautify our town by the City of North Kansas City matching funds for projects located along street or highway rights-of-ways. Eligible projects include raised planters for flower beds, shrubbery, and other plantings, ornamental tree and shrub plantings, irrigation system for landscape improvements, pedestrian walkway improvements, large scale street side cleanup projects, professional landscape planning and design work, and other beautification projects in public spaces. These need to be long-term projects and you, the property owner, will be responsible for the perpetual maintenance of streetscape improvements funded through this program. Emphasis is given to projects that address storm water runoff control.  These types of projects could be rain gardens, bio-swales, native plantings, etc. More information on storm water control projects can be found at https://www.marc.org/Environment/Water-Resources.

The City offers matching grants from $50 to $5,000 that will be paid on a reimbursable basis. These grants are offered on a competitive basis with $16,000 in funds available for the program this year. This is a wonderful opportunity to improve the curb appeal of your business, along with making North Kansas City an even more beautiful place to live, work, and play!

The application period for 2024 is now closed. Check back in early 2025 for the next round of grants.
